Level
lV - Advanced - Coaching clinic held in Fairbanks.
To the good
fortune of Alaska coaches and local organizations an advanced level
coaching class was held at UAF on the May 4th weekend. Only 17 of
these classes were held in the entire U.S. for the 2006 year. The
18 hours of clinic instruction was well done and received accolades
by all attendees. Information provided will not only certify the
70 coaches in attendance from across the State but will provide
information that can be disseminated throughout hockey organizations
to the betterment of all. Speakers included local notables such
as Dallas Ferguson, Wade Klippenstein, Forrest Karr and Mike MacDonald.
A surprise speaker
and real treat was Mark Johnson who played on the 1980 "Miracle"
team. Mike is now head coach of the University of Wisconsin women's
program. FAHA coaches in attendance included, Ben Hancock, Stacy
Griffith, Matt Mrzena, Jim Lewandoski, Hilmar Maier, John Miscovich,
Amy Miscovich, Dennis Wilfer, Lynn Thompson, Chris Cleveland, Heidi
Martin, Art Hughes, and Chris Storhok. Hats off to these coaches
for taking time out of their schedules to advance their coaching
knowledge.
